Man with reconstructed penis became a father

Several years ago Mike Moore, 30, did not even hope to have children. But not so long ago he became the first man with reconstructed penis who became a father.

When Moore was 7, he underwent a circumcision, which resulted in a serious infection, so doctors were forced to amputate almost the entire organ. Mike then went through three reconstructive procedures, but none of them succeeded. In 2007 he heard about Stanford plastic surgeon Dr. Gordon Lee and traveled to Stanford to visit him.

Dr. Lee used thicker thigh tissue instead of arm tissue to shape the organ, and, unlike the previous procedures, this one succeeded, and Mike received a functioning organ. He soon met his wife, and 6 months ago they had a baby boy and called him Memphis.

Today Mike came to Standord again to visit his doctor and to thank him for getting the opportunity to have a baby.

"His story is, as far as I know, a first in the world for a totally reconstructed penis to go and have a baby," Lee told NBC.

By the way, that was the second time Lee had ever performed the surgery, but his experience in other reconstructive surgery types was rather big.
