New anti-bacterial and stain-resistant underwear designed for heavy periods

April 25, 2014  18:51

A new brand of stain-resistant underwear made with anti-microbial fibers is set to change the way women deal with their periods.

With an absorbent layer that can hold up to six teaspoons of liquid, Thinx wants to stop women from wasting money on throw-away 'period panties' and instead invest in its 'thoughtful underwear with hidden powers'.

The underwear features four layers of protection: a 'refreshing' moisture-wicking technology, fibers coated with silver to make it resistant to bacteria and stains, a third that's able to collect up to six teaspoons of fluid, and lastly, one that makes it leak-proof.

The all-black styles (and lack of pink or floral prints) are particularly appealing to women who want to feel like they are wearing their usual lingerie during a time of month when spotting makes that impossible.

Thinx advises customers to simply throw the dirty pairs in the laundry on a cold rinse and wash cycle, but cautions against using fabric softeners that might diminish the anti-microbial technologies.
