Coronavirus experimental vaccine successfully tested on monkeys

Chinese scientists have successfully conducted the first trials of a new vaccine against coronavirus on monkeys, rats, and mice.

Under the action of the drug, antibodies were produced in the experimental animals' bodies necessary to combat SARS-CoV-2, the study published on bioRxiv reported.

This is an experimental purified inactivated coronavirus vaccine, which in the course of the study induced the production of SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies that neutralize at least 10 typical virus strains.

Scientists concluded that immunization with two different doses of the drug - 3 and 6 micrograms - provided complete or partial protection against SARS-CoV-2 in macaques. Experts noted they did not notice any antibody-dependent increase in infection.

According to scientists, based on the data obtained, it is possible to conduct clinical trials of the drug in humans and launch the vaccine in mass production.

An article published in the library on the results of the study is a preprint. Thus, it has no ratings of independent experts and is proposed for discussion in the scientific community.
