If there is an erectile dysfunction in men at young age, this can be a harbinger of heart attack, told NEWS.am Medicine the head of urological service in “Yerevan” medical center VahagnAshugyan. Time that can pass from the start of erectile dysfunction to a heart attack is about two years.

«We have young patients sometimes, who underwent stenting and bypass operations and apply to us with erectile dysfunction. These are men aged 40-55. Erectile dysfunction precedes the development of myocardial infarction - urological science proved this relationship. And even there are approximate calculations that erectile dysfunction is ahead of myocardial infarction for two years. With the development of cardiovascular surgery, less invasive procedures and bypass operations on coronary vessels, today many of those patients survive, live a long life, and on their example it is possible to trace this dependence: first erectile dysfunction, then cardiovascular disorders», - said the doctor.

According to him, very often lower urinary tract symptoms are also connected with erecile dysfunctions, and mostly this is the age dependence, associated with atherosclerosis, diabetes and other diseases.

For the treatment of erectile dysfunction nowadays are widely used inhibitors of phosphodiesterase, and these preparations have sufficiently good results. «In some cases, when there are changes in the corpora cavernosa of the penis to the extent that conservative therapy is no longer effective, we use phalloprosthetics», - said the doctor.

According to urologist's esstimates, erectile dysfunction is a widespread disease in Armenia.
