Woman with Ebola symptoms dies in Abu Dhabi airport

A woman flying from Nigeria to India for cancer treatment died in the transit zone of the Abu Dhabi airport while exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms, RIA-Novosti reported.

The 35-year-old woman started feeling sick during her transit at the airport on Sunday. The airport's medical staff examined the patient and stated that her symptoms consistent with the deadly Ebola virus currently ravaging Nigeria and several other western and central African countries.

The woman died the same day. Six people, including the doctors and the woman's husband have been isolated and are being observed. No symptoms of the virus have been detected in them. The UAE Health Ministry says the passengers from the same flight are out of risk.

Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a deadly disease transmitted through direct contact with the blood or bodily fluids of the infected. There is no licensed treatment or vaccine for the Ebola virus, which has a case fatality rate of up to 90 percent.

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa, which has affected Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, has claimed 1,140 lives, while 2,127 people have been infected, according to the World Health Organization.
