January 27, 2015  10:40

In one of the western provincies of Canada, in British Columbia a woman who recently returned from China had an infection of  H7N9 bird flu. This is the first case of infection in North America, CBC channel reports.

Canadian officials say, the woman's life is not in danger, she was not hospitalized, because there is no evidence that this particular strain of the virus can travel from person to person.

А (H5N1) type of bird flue (historically fowl plague) is a highly pathogenic viral disease that can be transmitted to people in contact with infected animals. The virus infects the digestive organs, respiratory pathways and has highly mortality risks. The most dangerous of the three virus strains are H5N1, H7N9, H10N8.

The firts human case with H7N9 bird flue was reported in China in 2013, March. Currently dozens of people have died of the disease in China.

Since then, there was no evidence that this strain can be transmitted from person to person.
