Scientists have discovered the impact of skull fractures on life duration. Specialists looked at the skulls of men lived in Denmarik during XII–XVII centuries.

The study showed that these men were 6.2 times more likely to die an early death compared with men living during that time without skull fractures.

Researchers have found that about 8.9% of male population in the medieval Denmark had skull fractures at a very young age.

Previously scientists didn't study the long-term effects of such injuries, and now it turned out that even healed injuries are likely to effect person's later life.

Today, the risk of dying after getting atraumatic brain injury is about half. The results of the study are published in the journal PNAS.

Brain injuries are the most common of all types of mechanical injuries, that can be easily caused during accidents and falling.

For many people, brain injuries can lead disability, problems with brain activity, the formation of micro and macro adenomas of pituitary, for others, they can lead tumors.
