Emotional organ donation film shows special bond between man and dog

They say dogs are man's most loyal companions.

And this moving film highlights just how close a canine's bond to his owner can be.

It shows one dog's devastation when his master becomes ill and is rushed to hospital.

And it reveals how the hound's love for his owner lives on, even when he has died and his organs have been harvested to give to others in need.

'The man and the dog' advert, created for the Argentina Foundation for Liver Transplants, has been released to encourage people to donate their organs to others.

It shows a day in the life of a man whose dog barely leaves his side.

He smiles as it wakes him up in the morning, licking and pawing at his face.

And it waits patiently outside a café as he drinks coffee with friends.

After he picks up some bread rolls from a shop, he laughs as he feeds his pet a treat, patting him on the head before they begin the journey home.

At night, the pair watch television together on the sofa, the dog's face on the man's knee.

But the film shows the man raising his hands to his head in pain, and later being rushed to hospital.

The dog races after the ambulance and tries to run through the A&E doors where his owner is being carried on a hospital trolley, but doctors shoo him away.

He waits loyally outside the hospital, his ears drooping and his head resting on the ground unhappily.

Days pass as he waits, in the pouring rain, hoping for a glimpse of his owner again.

Finally, a young girl in a wheelchair emerges through the hospital doors, and the dog can smell his old friend.

He rushes to the girl, who smiles widely at the sight of a dog enthusiastically jumping up at her.

She has received one of the man's organs, and it has allowed her to live.

The advert reads: 'Become an organ donor.'

The advert, which was created by the agency DDB, which also made John Lewis's 'Monty the Penguin' Christmas ad.

After the agency uploaded the ad to their YouTube account on May 20th, it started trending worldwide and now has over two million views.

In the UK 4,655 organ transplants were carried out between April 2013 and March 2014, from 2,466 living and deceased donors. More than 206 of these were heart transplants.

In the US, 28,954 people received organ transplants in 2013.
