A woman, considered as a man, gave birth to twins

When Hayley was 19, she was told she would never become a mother as she was genetically born a man. The girl fell into depression.  She scared to go on a date, because she didn't imagine how she could explain a young man that she suffers androgen insensitivity syndrome and that  she  is a woman only in appearance.

But her childhood friend Sam became her husband and persuaded her to start her treatment again.

A ray of hope came when her doctor found a tiny womb missed on previous scans.

The first step was a course of hormone tablets that could create an environment in which her womb could grow.

The couple paid more than half their savings – for IVF treatment. Then Haynes was told her womb was ready for IVF. Doctors told her she had only a 60 per cent chance of pregnancy. But fortunately, both eggs had taken and she gave birth to 2 girls- Avery and Darcey.
