Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Clinic of MC Erebouni offers a full range of cardiac services

Today, cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the whole world. Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and and prevention of disorders of the heart and the circulatory system. Diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases is one of the most important tasks of the medical services of any country.

For more than 15 years MC Erebouni has been operating several highly specialized cardiology oriented departments. However, in January 2015, in order to improve their efficiency, all cardiac services were integrated into the Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery Clinic, which now includes:

1.    Department of Functional Diagnostics of Cardiovascular Disease
2.    Department of Cardiopulmonary Pathology
3.    Urgent Cardiology Department with intensive therapy unit
4.    Department of Angiography and Intervention cardiology
5.    Electrophysiology & Intervention Arrhythmology Department
6.    Cardiovascular Surgery Department

MC Erebouni is equipped with modern and highly specialized equipment and uses the newest methods for diagnostics and treatment of heart and vascular diseases. This helps the cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons of the center to diagnose the diseases of their patients at the earliest stages and perform timely and highly effective therapy, after which they come up with preventive recommendations for each patient.

The Urgent Cardiology Department was created to provide highly skilled, specialized care for patients with heart diseases. It includes an intensive care unit (ICU), a Semi-Intensive Unit (the so-called "second stage") and the ward.

The Department of Cardiopulmonary Pathology of MC Erebouni deals with the diagnosticis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular diseases, including non-coronary diseases and lung pathologies, as well as rare diseases of the respiratory system.

The Department of Interventional Cardiology and Angiography of MC Erebouni is a modern department that corresponds to international standards and is well equipped. The department provides 7/24 non-stop reception, diagnostics and treatment of the patients with cardiovascular diseases on routine and emergency base. The department has all necessary conditions for the implementation of diagnostic and interventional procedures in patients with cardiovascular diseases.

The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of MC Erebouni performs all kinds of complex cardiac and vascular surgery in patients with cardiovascular diseases. It includes the following services:

–   Service of Cardiac Surgery and reconstruction of the heart,
–   Service of Vascular Surgery of the neck and stroke prevention,
–   Service aortic surgery,
–   Service of peripheral vascular surgery,
–   Laser Surgery Service vessels.

The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of MC Erebouni was the first in Armenia to carry out surgeries such as postinfarction heart aneurysm with Dor’s technique, coronary artery bypass grafting using both internal mammary arteries, carotid endarterectomy etc. with good results, comparable with international standards.

Close cooperation between specialists in cardiology, angiography, endovascular surgery, cardiac surgery and arrhythmology allows yet in the first hours of acute myocardial infarction to have a highly specialized multidisciplinary care for patients and to organize activities and interventions to restore patency of the coronary artery and stop the progression of myocardial infarction. This contributes to a significant increase in patient survival and reduces the percentage of their disability.
