Modern Healthcare, a publication billing itself as the “leader in healthcare business news, research and data” has named community activist and benefactor Mike Sarian among its 2017 top 25 chief operating officers of the healthcare industry.

Sarian, has been president of hospital operations at Prime Healthcare Services. Sarian has been president of hospital operations for Prime since 2012. The system employs more than 43,500 people and owns and operates 44 acute-care hospitals. Prime had 18 hospitals when Sarian became president of hospital operations. He has more than 25 years of executive experience in healthcare. Before joining Prime, Sarian was in charge of hospital operations at Prospect Medical Holdings for seven years and previously was CEO of the Heritage Medical Group in Harrisburg, Penn.

Despite his busy schedule and work-related responsibilities, Sarian has always found time for the Armenian community as an outspoken advocate for Armenian issues and a generous benefactor for Armenian causes, especially education and Armenian schools.

This past January, Sarian was critically influential in setting up a call between Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian and the newly-elected Vice-President Mike Pence. In 2014, he was the event sponsor of the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region’s annual banquet.

Last summer, Sarian opened his home and sponsored a gathering marking Asbarez’s 108th anniversary and continues to be one of the publication’s major sponsors.

In addition to his support of the ANCA, Sarian has also generously supported the Armenian Relief Society, Armenian Cultural Foundation, Hamazkayin, AGBU, Sahag Mesrob Armenian School, Armenian churches and other community and charitable organizations.

Throughout the years, Sarian has donated millions of dollars of medical equipment to hospitals in Armenia, which have saved countless lives and have enhanced the medical and healthcare needs of the Armenian populations.
Sarian strongly believes in preserving the Armenian heritage in the Diaspora, maintaining the unique identity of American-Armenians, and the unity of all Armenians. He grew up in Lebanon dreaming of an independent Armenian homeland. His dream now is a united independent Armenia with the Armenian flag flying over Mount Ararat and Western Armenia.

With more than 25 years of experience and being the highest-ranking Armenian-American executive in the industry, Sarian is also active in healthcare policy in California and the nation. He is a member of the executive board of the California Hospital Association which represents over 500 hospitals and healthcare systems in California.

Sarian is also active in several civic and charitable organizations, serving on multiple boards of non-profit organizations to help the poor and needy. He has donated his time and support to the Venice Family Clinic, American Juvenile Diabetic Association, and Colon Cancer Society in the US and Canada.

In 2015, Sarian was awarded the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his contributions to America, the Armenian community of California and Armenia.
