First woman’s nipple shown on daytime TV in Britain

October 13, 2017  23:35
A WOMAN'S nipple has been shown for the first time on daytime telly – as part of a breast cancer awareness campaign.

The charity CoppaFeel! was given the go-ahead to show a naked breast being inspected by hand for possible signs of cancer.

It follows research showing 80 per cent of young women do not check their breasts regularly.

Most say they lack the confidence to know how to check.

The ad will be shown live in the day from Monday - and was previwed on Good Morning Britain earlier today.

It will also be screened in cinemas. You can watch the full advert above.

Natalie Kelly from CoppaFeel! said: “We hope to encourage more young people across the UK to adopt a healthy boob checking habit, which could one day save their life.”

The go-ahead for showing a naked breast on daytime TV was given by ClearCast, the screening service which vets commercial TV channels.

The ad shows a series of everyday objects being touched, alongside women and men doing a breast self-examination.

The idea is to show how easy self-checks are.

Breast cancer affects one in eight women throughout their lifetime.

The campaign hopes to change behaviour in young women, who are currently more likely to go to the dentist, weigh themselves or get their eyes tested than they are to check their boobs.

CoppaFeel! was founded by Sun columnist Kris Hallenga, 31, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23.
