Mum-of-six had her hands and legs amputated after a COLD that developed into deadly sepsis

A MUM-of-six lost her hands and legs after a cold developed into a life-threatening infection.

As The Sun reports, Tiffany King, from Utah, woke up in January struggling to breathe and was rushed to hospital.

She had developed viral and bacterial pneumonia – which led to sepsis – and slipped into a coma.

The 38-year-old eventually woke and was told her legs and hands needed to be amputated.

She was taking an immunosuppressant that weakens the immune system, to treat a severe type of arthritis she may develop due to a gene she carries.

The dental technician lives with her fiance Moale Fonohema and their six kids aged four to 27 – three are Tiffany’s, two are Moale’s and one they adopted.

After getting his fiance to hospital Moe said he was told to start making funeral arrangements – after her chances of survival plummeted from 70 per cent to 15 per cent within days.

He told People: “It was scary, but I knew that she could get through it. She’s a tough person and I wasn’t about to give up on her.

“To be honest, we have wedding plans and I knew that we both wanted more than anything to see them happen.”

After staying by her bedside for days waiting for her to wake up, Moe broke the news to Tiffany she needed a number of drastic operations.

She said: “I love to turn up the music around the house and dance, and I enjoy snowboarding and horses.

“So sure, it was shocking to hear that I had to lose my arms and legs, but I know that we’ll figure it out. I have a lot of people cheering me on.”

The family have set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money for the prosthetic arms and legs Tiffany needs.

They will cost $225,000 and her insurance won’t cover it.

The brave mum has vowed to be able to walk down the aisle to marry Moe.

He added: ‘With arms and legs or without them, I’m here for her — I love her. She was worried how I’d feel about her after the amputation, but nothing has changed.

“‘You’re my rock’, I told her, ‘And I’ll be your hands and feet’.”
