The Ebola outbreak has been observed in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo since last August. At the moment, authorities have confirmed over 2,000 cases of the disease, more than two-thirds of which were fatal.
Outbreaks of Ebola and Marburg hemorrhagic fevers have also been recorded in Uganda from time to time for several years, despite the high level of adequate medical care for Africa.
Hemorrhagic fever Ebola is a dangerous disease, which is characterized by severe, high mortality. The disease is transmitted by contact with contaminated biological materials.
A reliable vaccine against the disease does not yet exist.
