Even the healthiest foods become extremely harmful if they are fried, BMJ reported referring to a new study.

According to the study, a fried chicken per day increases the risk of premature death by 13%, and frequent consumption of fried fish or seafood by 7%.

Scientists under the leadership of epidemiologist Wei Bao from the University of Iowa analyzed the results of 18-year observations of a group of 100,000 women aged 50 to 79 years. They wanted to understand how 122 foods affect different systems of the body. As a result, they found that participants who often consumed fried food daily were more likely to be prone to heart disease than those who did not eat fried food.

The authors of the study noted that even healthy products like fish or seafood (which are known to be beneficial for the cardiovascular system) become harmful if they are fried.
