Expert: High blood pressure is most common among Armenian population

Hot weather in Yerevan has also an effect on blood pressure, the clinical intern Nelly Hovakimyan told News.am Medicine.

Nelly Hovakimyan is one of the experts involved in the action on early detection of arterial hypertension that started in Yerevan. According to her, high blood pressure is most common among the population of Armenia amid low level of physical activity, unhealthy diet, a hereditary factor, as well as a high number of smokers. Thus, according to studies, every second or third man smokes in Armenia.

Hovakimyan informed that hypertension is most common in men older than 50 years, in women during menopause, as well as among patients with diabetes.
