Study shows there are about 100 million bacteria in one apple

July 25, 2019  22:42

Scientists at Gratz University of Technology claim that there are about 100,000,000 bacteria in every apple, even in a fully washed apple.

Based on a study published in Frontiers in Microbiology magazine, it is raw fruits and vegetables that become the major source for bacteria since many microorganisms die in food.

Studying apples in stores and homes, scientists detected a large number of bacteria in both cases.

The study also showed that there are more bacteria in apples sold in stores that can cause stomach problems. However, what is interesting is that there were also many bacteria in apples stored in homes.
