Woman forces her healthy son to undergo 13 surgeries

Kaylene Bowen, 35, of Dallas, from the US state of Texas pleaded guilty to taking her son to doctors 323 times, although the child was healthy and did not need medical help, Daily Mail reported

A hearing in the case of Kaylene and her child was held on August 15 at the Dallas District Court. The woman was accused of taking her 10-year-old son to the hospital 323 times from 2009 to 2016 and subjected him to unnecessary examinations and procedures. According to the case file, during this time the child underwent 13 surgeries that he did not really need.

The court will announce the verdict in October. Kaylene faces up to 20 years in prison under the article of unintended harm to the health of a child.

In 2017, the guardianship authorities took the son from Kaylene. Now the boy’s father, Ryan Crawford, will raise him alone. Hospital staff told the agency that, contrary to the assurances of the mother, the child has neither cancer nor other problems she invented.

Presumably, Kaylene suffered from delegated Munchhausen syndrome, a disorder in which parents or loved ones intentionally cause painful conditions in a child or vulnerable adult or invent them to seek medical help.
