Cancer relapse may be prevented

A team of scientists from Canada and the US has developed a unique technology that prevents the development of cancer recurrence, British Journal of Cancer reported.
This is an electrosurgical scalpel through which a jet of cold plasma is sprayed onto the tissue.
According to the developers, it is enough to treat a postoperative wound within 2-7 minutes to achieve the desired effect.
Cold plasma destroys cancer cells using reactive oxygen species, scientists noted.
The advantage of the technology is that healthy tissues are not damaged.
The effectiveness of the treatment of postoperative wounds with cold plasma has been proven in animal experiments.
