Why freshly squeezed juices are dangerous?

September 10, 2019  20:32

Drinking freshly squeezed juices on an empty stomach is a bad idea, according to gastroenterologists. The fact is that such juices contain a high concentration of acids, which can cause problems with the stomach, gall bladder and pancreas.

Sometimes one or two receptions of juice on an empty stomach may be enough to exacerbate chronic gastrointestinal diseases.

Drinking undiluted juices is also a bad idea as water dilutes the juice, softening its effect on the digestive tract, and undiluted juice is much more aggressive.

One of the most difficult to assimilate is considered to be freshly squeezed beet juice, since it contains a high amount of active substances. Therefore, you should not drink it immediately after extraction as digestion may simply not be able to cope. After pressing, the juice should be fermented, for this it needs to be kept in the refrigerator for one to two hours.

Beetroot juice can provoke exacerbation of cystitis in women prone to kidney stones. The same effect may be due to tomato juice and other juices rich in vitamin C.

According to experts, drinking apple juice can cause cross-allergies in people who are allergic to birch pollen.

But grapefruit juice may be unsafe when taking certain medications. The fact is that the substances contained in it (furanocoumarins and flavonoids) block the work of the liver enzyme that metabolizes a large number of drugs. As a result, the concentration of the drug in the body increases, which can negatively affect the state of health.

According to experts, a day you can drink no more than 150 ml of any undiluted freshly squeezed juice. Experts also do not recommend drinking juices from over 3 ingredients.
