Jessica Cain, 21, from Gateshead has died from meningitis while sleeping, The Sun reported.

She returned home after the festival with an acute headache and went to bed early. The next morning, on October 14, 49-year-old mother Sheila Rowell found her daughter dead in the bedroom.

An autopsy showed that the girl died from meningococcal meningitis and septicemia.

"She said she had a bit of a headache and felt a bit groggy. She took a couple of paracetamol and water and went to bed. The next morning, I went to speak to her but I couldn't wake her up,” her mother said.

She decided to talk about what happened with the local media in order to spread information about the dangers of meningitis and that a headache could be a sign of this deadly disease.
