Even mild inflammation may harm brain’s ability to stay alert, study says

November 19, 2019  09:47

Going to work being sick simply does not make sense, as said scientists from the University of Birmingham, Slash Gear reported

According to the source, the fact is that the inflammation that develops as a result of a common cold affects the brain's ability to stay alert and healthy.

They conducted an experiment with 20 young people who were given a vaccine against typhoid fever to cause temporary inflammation.

The level of inflammation in the study participants was monitored by a blood test. Volunteers did not know what they were given. Although inflammation did not affect executive control, it had a negative effect on alertness.
