WHO experts talk about results of coronavirus study after visiting China
All age categories are susceptible to COVID-2019 coronavirus, said international team of WHO experts who visited China to investigate the outbreak of a new coronavirus.
According to an official with China's National Health Commission, Liang Wannian, the WHO international team of 25 Chinese and foreign experts arrived in China on February 16 and visited Beijing, Guangdong, Sichuan, and Wuhan - the epicenter of the outbreak.
A new type of coronavirus is a new type of pathogen, therefore, no age group has immunity from a new type of coronavirus, they can easily become infected, said Liang.
According to the results of the study, the average age of patients is 51 years old, people aged 30-69 years make up 77.8% of the total number of cases, 77.5% of cases were reported in Hubei province.
Experts also found that in 1-5% of people who had contact with patients, tests for coronavirus infection were positive.
