Iran confirms record number of coronaviruses cases

A record number of the coronavirus cases have been confirmed over the past 24 hours, said heath ministry official representative Kianoush Jahanpour.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,234 new cases have been identified in the country, according to the ministry.

“Unfortunately, in the last 24 hours, 17 patients died and the death toll rose to 124,” CNN reported quoting the spokesperson.

According to worldometers.info/coronavirus/, 16 people died from coronavirus per day in Iran, while the total number of victims of the disease reached 124.

Classes in educational institutions have been canceled until March 20. Citizens are advised to stay at home and refrain from traveling. Cultural and sporting events have been canceled. Restrictions also affected religion. The Iranian authorities are gradually moving to the format of video conferencing.
