WHO: Number of COVID-19 new cases is increasing in Russia, Eastern Europe, but declining in Western Europe
The number of COVID-19 new cases recorded per day is steadily declining in Western Europe, while in Russia and Eastern Europe it continues to grow, Reuters reported referring to the World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson.
"At the moment in Europe, in Western Europe, we are seeing a steady decline. It’s not speedy but there’s a steady decline in new cases being reported daily, so that means that the number of new cases are still significant but the number is coming down except for Russia and Eastern Europe where we are still seeing the rise," said dpokeswoman Margaret Harris.
Harris also noted that she has no information on whether talks are still ongoing with the Trump administration, which last Friday announced the withdrawal from WHO due to dissatisfaction with the organization’s response to the pandemic.
"I have no information on whether we were formally notified," she added.
