People, who are infected by the coronavirus, can still spread it, even if they don’t have the typical signs such as temperature and cough. The new study, published in the Infection magazine, shows, that patients with no COVID-19 symptoms have sometimes even higher viral load than the symptomatic ones.

During the study, scientists have sampled the nasopharynx, oral cavity, rectum, as well as urine and blood of those patients, who were hospitalized with COVID-19.

In total, the samples were collected from 60 patients. The researchers have found that the viral load in asymptomatic patients was higher than in symptomatic patients. The scientists have also observed a significant reduction in viral load in parallel with the increase in severity of illness.
