YEREVAN. – Fifteen people have been injected in Armenia with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus, and which was donated to Armenia by Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko. Gayane Sahakyan, head of the national immunization program of Armenia, stated this answering a question by NEWS.am Medicine.

Among those vaccinated are the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, and Sahakyan was also vaccinated. According to her, no side effects have been detected in any of them and, moreover, there was not even redness or pain at the injection spot.

Gayane Sahakyan noted that antibody-level analyses were not conducted in Armenia for people vaccinated with this vaccine, and that is why it is necessary to test not for general antibodies, but for "neutralizing" ones. But according to the specialist, now there is no need for such tests, as there are results of clinical trials of the vaccine, and these results show that the effectiveness of the vaccine after the injection of the first dose reaches 91.4 percent, and after the second dose—up to 94 percent.

The specialist also noted that the vaccine may not always prevent the coronavirus infection, but it does prevent serious cases and deaths from this disease.
