COVID-19 spreads by talking same way as by coughing, study claims

A new study claims that the COVID-19 spreads by talking the same way as by coughing.

Scientists at the University of Cambridge modeled the transmission of the virus, taking into account the size of the droplets that enter the environment during coughing or talking, as well as various factors - the composition of the viral aerosol and the settling time.

As it turned out, the risk of transmitting the virus is equally high both when coughing and talking, if you are without a mask at a distance of 2 meters from the infected. Even an hour after the infected person spoke for only 30 seconds, the droplet suspension remaining in the air contains more viral mass than after a cough. This is why people become infected so easily in poorly ventilated rooms.

The study also showed that when talking or coughing, virus particles only take a couple of seconds to travel more than two meters and reach another person.

According to scientists, until the COVID-19 is defeated, it is necessary to continue wearing masks, maintain social distance, and ventilate the premises well so that the viral aerosol does not accumulate in them.
