March 31, 2021  19:00

Injection of platelet-rich plasma and gonadotropins into the ovaries shows promising results in restoring ovarian function, a small study noted, the results of which were published in the journal Menopause.

As part of the study, platelet-rich plasma and gonadotropins were injected into the participants' ovaries. After treatment, 11 of the 12 study participants resumed menstruation, and one had a clinical pregnancy, defined as pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound and, fetal heartbeat.

According to scientists, more research is needed, including larger ones, but these first results regarding the successful restoration of ovarian function give hope to women with early menopause who may be able to become pregnant through in vitro fertilization using their own eggs.
