The state program for the treatment of ischemic stroke has been operating in Armenia since February 2019, and to this day, about 1,000 patients with ischemic stroke have received medical services, Armenian health ministry representative Armine Aghajanyan, told reporters on Wednesday.

According to her, this year, about 300 patients have already received medical services under this program. In 2019, 650 million drams were allocated for it from the state budget, in 2020 - 870 million, and in 2021 it is planned to allocate 1 billion 100 million drams for it. True, if there are more patients and the allocated funds are not enough, funding will increase, and, as the specialist noted, not a single patient will be left without treatment.

As the head of the neurological service of the Heratsi Hospital N1 Complex Yekaterina Hovhannisyan noted, the beneficiaries of the program can be patients with ischemic stroke who were delivered to the hospital within 4 hours after the onset of the disease and who have no contraindications for thrombectomy or prombolysis.
