Scientists find strain of lactobacilli active against coronavirus

Russian scientists have identified a strain of lactobacilli that is active against coronavirus.

Experts have studied the antiviral activity of 6 strains of lacto- and bifidobacteria, which are part of the author's probiotics, against swine flu, the H5N6 avian influenza virus and coronavirus.

They found that probiotic strains of lactobacilli and one strain of bifidobacteria show pronounced activity against influenza viruses, and one of the strains of lactobacilli is active against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The research results were formulated in a joint scientific article, which was published in the foreign scientific journal Biomed Research International.
