Which food increases risk of developing cancer?

Regular consumption of salted fish increases the risk of developing stomach and colon cancer, according to pharmacist Hussain Abdeh, Express reported.

“Salted fish (Chinese-style) is a known cause of cancer," warned Abdeh.

Chinese-style salted fish is popular in Chinese populations along the south China coast and Southeastern Asian countries, where it is often used as an accompaniment to other dishes or rice.

As per Abdeh, fish served this way is classed as a Group 1 carcinogen, as is processed meat—like hot dogs and salami.

According to him, putting salt in fish for preservation leads to the formation of by-products, which, if used regularly, increase the risk of developing cancer.

So, Abdeh advises avoiding salty, sour, and smoked foods as they are associated with an increased risk of cancer.
