The details of the unique operation, which was carried out by Volgograd doctors, were told to the Vysota 102 news agency in the health committee of the Volgograd region of Russia.

In April of this year, a pregnant woman turned to doctors for help. The patient's thyroid gland has grown to an enormous size. The woman was hospitalized in the endocrinology department of the Volgograd Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1.

Doctors carried out diagnostic measures and concluded that an operation was required. Given the duration of pregnancy, the patient was transferred to the Volgograd Regional Clinical Perinatal Center No. 2 for delivery.

There, the woman became the mother of two healthy babies, and already in a new status returned to the surgical department at the regional hospital - she had a difficult operation to remove the thyroid gland.

Despite the fact that the operation to remove the thyroid gland is one of the most difficult surgical procedures, everything went well. The woman had her thyroid completely removed. The organ weighed 1.5 kilograms.

The postoperative period went well. One of the key tasks of physicians was the preservation of lactation. While the woman was in the medical facility, she was consulted by gynecologists. The patient was not prescribed antibiotics so that the young mother could continue breastfeeding her twins.
