5 Simple Steps to Avoid Germs at the Holidays

December 28, 2014  12:32

Spending time with others brings a lot of joy during the holiday season, but it can also bring germs along the way. Parties, travel and shopping all include risks of picking up an illness from someone else nearby. You are to be more careful while touching different kinds of objects as they can transmit a virus or bacteria to you, http://health.clevelandclinic.org says.

1. Keep your hands away from your face

Washing your hands or applying an alcohol-rub hand cleaner every five minutes is what it would take to keep your hands germ-free. That just isn’t possible. But, you have another option: Decrease your chances of transmitting whatever virus or bacteria you’ve touched to your body by keeping your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth. These are the soft, wet areas where germs can take hold and multiply.

 2. Stay home if you’re sick

This is also an important piece of advice as it helps everyone. The truth is we can expose another 5, 10, 15 or 100 people. So whether it's cold or the flue do your coworkers and friends a favor and stay home

3. Don't forget about germs while traveling

If you are traveling during the holiday season, follow the same suggestions too. With filtration systems, airplane air is better than it used to be and it somehow can protect you from germs, but, however, be careful.

4. Take in holiday joy, not germs, at a party

If you are participating in holiday parties, be careful while using common utensils and eating food how beautiful and tasty they may seem respectively. Don't use your fingers to eat, be sure the utensils are clean and don’t share glasses.

 5. Strengthen your immune system to fight off illness

If you take care of yourself, you will have a better chance of fighting viruses. Try to get plenty of rest and lead healthy lifestyle.
