Doctor performs colonoscopy on himself to understand patients' pain

Feng Zhuo, deputy director of the Proctology Department in a hospital in Shanghai, performed a 15-minute colonoscopy on himself to have a better sense of how patients felt.

Doctor Feng said he made the decision after careful consideration in hope of improving his surgical skills to relieve suffering.

Doctor Feng posted a detailed summary of his perceptions on Wechat after he completed the test. He concluded that surgeons must perform very gently and choose laxatives that tasted better.
