Researchers have created a new jab for those wishing to lose weight. An injection tricks the brain into feeling full. It has already been called as salvation from obesity. It works by acting like an appetite hormone which stays in the body for hours, convincing the brain the body is full, The Telegraph reports.

An injection that tricks the brain into feeling full and could help dieters lose a stone may be available within a year. The jab, used once a day, could help women drop two dress sizes.

It uses the drug liraglutide, which tricks the brain into feeling full, lowers blood pressure, staves off diabetes and could slow the progression of Alzheimer’s. According to the reserach those taking the drug before breakfast each day lost an average of 8, 6 kg in the course of a year. A third of women lost 10,4 kg in weight.

Researchers tested the drug on 4,000 obese men and women for 12 months. Around two thirds lost a least five per cent of their weight and a third shed at least 10 per cent. Waists also shrunk by 5sm. They also found those who took the drug found it easier to process sugar and had lower blood pressure.
Novo Nordisk, a firm which manufactures the drug, already sells it to treat diabetes.
