Psychologist Mariam Mehrabyan states that people often feel depressed in Armenia, just like people in other parts of the world. Based on the evaluations of the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is a common psychological disorder, and more than 300,000,000 people suffer from depression. Experts of the WHO note that depression is one of the main reasons for disability in the world and can lead to suicide in the worst case scenario.

What are the symptoms that you should particularly focus on?

As Mariam Mehrabyan told NEWS.am Medicine, mood swings are a particular symptom of long-term depression. Besides this, there is also low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and lack of will.

There is another troubling symptom that deserves attention, and that is the feeling of injustice. “The world can’t be incessant. People are different, and so are resources and opportunities, and we need to find our place in the world. It is very important not to compare ourselves with others. The best protection of a person is intensification of motivation,” Mehrabyan said.
