Study: Men under 9 years old are usually diagnosed with asthma, woman - under 40

According to a new study, men and women are usually diagnosed with asthma in different ages 0 men- under 9 years old, man - under 40.

Scientists from the University of Tampere, as well as their colleagues from the central hospitals of the cities of Seinäjoki and Vaasa analyzed the data of 4,000 people living in Finland and noticed that the onset of asthma is indeed different, depending on the person’s gender.

This may be due to hormonal changes in the body.

According to the co-author of the project, Professor Heikki Koskela, women’s risk of developing asthma increases during menopause.

According to Professor Koskel, several factors increase the risk of facing asthma:

• heredity
• allergies, manifested by a runny nose, skin itch, eye inflammation
• maternal smoking, passive smoking
• excess weight
• high humidity in the home

According to scientists, weight loss and regular exercise of sports significantly improve the quality of life of asthmatics and help them reduce the consumption of drugs.
