Impact of smoking on menopause

Scientists from the Perelman School of Medicine have found that smoking has its impact on menopause. Thus, female smokers of the European type, subject to a certain genetic mutation, have reached menopause earlier by 9 years.

As part of the scientific work, scientists have been observing 410 women aged from 35 to 47 for 14 years. It turned out that female smokers have reached their menopause earlier for a year than those who do not smoke.

Meanwhile, when certain genetic mutation (it was detected in only 7% of the participants), the woman reached their menopause 9 years earlier.
