Scientists have found that active children have less chances to face obesity, PLOS One reported.

According to the study, led by professor at Strathclyde University John Reilly in collaboration with Australian expert, this character trait can protect the child's body from obesity.

To measure energy consumption, scientists took into account the child’s activity during the hour of watching TV, playing with toys or coloring pictures. The most restless children moved 53 times in an hour, while the least restless children changed position only 11 times.

The most restless child burned 14% more calories than the most passive. Thus, on an annualized basis, a restless baby can prevent an increase in his weight by 6.6 pounds.
