Toxic heavy metals can be found in baby foods, according to scientists who found it out in a study by Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF), Daily Mail reported.

Experts studied 168 children's food in the US and it turned out that 95% of baby food samples contain at least one heavy metal, while 94% of the tested food products contained lead, 75% - cadmium, 73% - arsenic, 32% - mercury.

Moreover, in every fourth food sample, four heavy metals were found right away. The most dangerous products were those based on rice, carrots, sweet potatoes and fruit juices. For example, rice snacks, rice flakes for children, teething cookies and rice crackers.

The compounds found are able to influence the developing brain, reducing the child's IQ level. Even worse, the negative effect is cumulative: the more a child eats foods with heavy metals, the greater their effect on his health.

Only 1 out of every 9 products did not have heavy metals.
