People with mental disorders die nearly 7-10 years earlier than people without psychiatric problems, The Lancet reported referring to a study.

The study clearly showed how disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders affect people's lifespan.

According to scientists, the risk of premature death is higher for people with mental disorders at any age.

By the way, with increased risk of death due to suicide, people with depression and other psychiatric problems also have an increased risk of death due to somatic diseases such as cancer, respiratory diseases, and diabetes.

Scientists also found that while men with mental illnesses are at a higher risk of dying from cancer, they are much more likely to die from cardiovascular and lung diseases at a younger age than the general population.
