Blood test can help in diagnosing schizophrenia

Newly developed blood tests can help in diagnosing schizophrenia, Russian researchers from Institute of Science and Technology say.

New markers were revealed during the analysis of metabolic changes in patients with schizophrenia, TASS reported.

“We got such results by minimizing the ‘noise’ when studying blood plasma by analyzing a large number of samples and using various computational procedures. We found about 50 compounds in plasma that give an accuracy of finding schizophrenia in 95-97% of cases,” professor Filip Khaytovich said.
