Women who have experienced domestic violence are 2 times more likely to experience regular chronic pain or excessive fatigue - fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, Journal of Interpersonal Violence reported.

Fibromyalgia is a disease in which people experience chronic pain in their muscles and bones. The appearance of pain points on the body is also characteristic.

In their study, scientists compared the medical histories of 18,547 women who suffered from domestic violence and 74,188 women who did not experience it. From case histories, the authors of the study obtained information about both diseases and facts of domestic violence.

The prevalence of fibromyalgia among women who have experienced domestic violence is 1.73 times higher, and chronic fatigue syndrome is 1.91 times higher than in the rest of the study participants.
