Isla, 2, is only child in world with ‘Benjamin Button’ condition

Two-year-old Isla Kilpatrick-Screaton doesn’t just have a rare condition, it’s one that nobody else in the world had; mandibuloacral dysplasia, Metro reported.

The girl was born in 2017, and she has a unique kind of mandibuloacral dysplasia - a congenital disease that causes bone deformation. The cells of her body age faster than usual, so the girl looks older than her years. Parents try to treat this with humor and jokingly call their daughter 'grandmother.'

"Stacey, 33, and Kyle, 36, were also told by consultants that little Isla is the only known child in the world with the condition, which is sometimes known as ‘Benjamin Button disease’. This is because it prompts rapid aging of cells, which make her look older than she really is, and increase her risk of other conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, hardened arteries, kidney disease and heart disease," the source noted.

 The doctors who worked with the girl had never before encountered the mutation found in her.
