If you drink enough water during the day, but still feel a dry mouth you may have diabetes, thyrotoxicosis, or other diseases.

According to Russian media, dry mouth can be linked to an increased level of glucose in the blood, which in turn can indicate prediabetes or even complete diabetes.

In addition, dry mouth can be a symptom of thyroid disorders, for example, on thyrotoxicosis, in which there is an excessive production of thyroid hormones. Other symptoms of this disorder may include small trembling of the fingers, excessive thinness, and heart palpitations. If you notice these symptoms, it is recommended to consult with an endocrinologist, undergo an ultrasound examination of the thyroid gland and take tests for hormones T3, T4 and TSH.

Another possible cause of dry mouth is autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and other diseases in which immunity begins to attack the cells of your own body.

Chronic oral diseases, dental problems, and stress can also cause increased dryness.

One way or another, if you have been worried about dry mouth for some time, which is not related to the diet and the amount of water you drink, you should consult a specialist.
