From sauna to X-ray: 5 prohibitions for pregnant women

Women are advised to make some changes in their life while pregnant to avoid problems and complications.

The Health Site said what could be a threat to an unborn baby and what a pregnant woman should avoid.

Smoking

Smoking is dangerous not only for mom, but also for the baby. Problems with the access of oxygen during smoking negatively affect the growth and development of the fetus, and smoking can provoke premature birth and rupture of the membranes.

Alcohol

The use of alcohol during pregnancy leads to the appearance of birth defects in the fetus, to problems with growth, to intellectual disabilities etc. If you are planning a pregnancy, or are already expecting a baby or are breastfeeding, you must completely abandon alcohol - even a small amount can harm.

Roentgen

X-rays can be dangerous for an unborn baby, so it is not recommended to take an X-ray during pregnancy. An exception may be cases when an X-ray is necessary to save the life of the mother. Specialists should, whenever possible, protect the pregnant woman’s stomach from radiation.

Sauna, Jacuzzi

The body overheats, dehydrates in a sauna and jacuzzi and all this can adversely affect the health of the fetus, especially in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Cats

Cats are considered carriers of the parasite called toxoplasma gondia. And the development of this infection in the early stages of pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage, moreover, it can provoke blindness and brain damage to an unborn child.
