Over 1,700 doctors in China infected with coronavirus

Over 1,700 Chinese doctors have been infected with coronavirus, Financial Times reported. 

All of them got infected while working with infected patients.

A 34-year-old Dr. Li Wenliang, who at the end of December last year tried to warn colleagues about a new dangerous virus and which the police silenced, became one of the victims of the new coronavirus: he, like many other doctors, became infected while working with patients, and died after some time.

Another doctor, 28-year-old Song Yingjie from the Hunan province of China, was not infected, but died from heart failure caused by overwork. He checked the health of drivers and passengers on the highway for 10 consecutive days in connection with the outbreak of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus.

According to the latest data, the number of deaths from the new coronavirus COVID-19 reached 1491. The number of infected reached 65,247. 7099 recovered and were discharged from hospitals (83% of cases with a known outcome). 56 657 patients are still ill, of which 10 608 (19%) are in serious or critical condition.
