WHO arrives in China to investigate new coronavirus

An international expert group of the World Health Organization (WHO) has arrived in China to study a new coronavirus, said the official representative of the Chinese MFA Geng Shuang.

According to him, the team includes specialists from the United States.

As Chinese State Committee on Health Affairs noted, WHO experts will visit Beijing, as well as the provinces of Guangdong and Sichuan to familiarize themselves with the local distribution of coronavirus.

Earlier, World Health Organization Director General Dr Tedros Adhanom said the WHO expert mission in China will consist of 12 international experts, and 12 colleagues from China will join it. Their goal is to gain additional knowledge about the outbreak for a global response to it.

Coronavirus infection has already killed 1,776 people, most of the victims were in China. Only in the last day, 106 new deaths were recorded.

The total number of infected people is at least 71,334. 11,040 have already recovered, 58,518 are still ill, and 11,298 of them are in serious or critical condition.
