New coronavirus death toll reaches 2,247

The new coronavirus death toll has risen to 2,247, with 118 patients dying in the past day alone - all from China.

There are now 55,930 coronavirus patients in hospitals, 12,065 (22%) of them in severe or critical condition, and 18,561 (89% of cases) others have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

The total number of infected is 76,738, and the vast majority of them are from China. There are 156 cases of the new coronavirus in South Korea, 97 in Japan, 85 in Singapore, and 69 in Hong Kong.

Five people have been infected with coronavirus in Iran, and two of whom have died.

The total number of countries where the new coronavirus has been detected has reached 30.
